Before the cozy new tasting room opened in downtown Sonoma, before the next generation started taking the brand to that next level. There was a family, with a passion and a purpose to create and share Rancho Maria wines, from farm to table. From the Dry Creek Valley, to our new hub in Sonoma County. We are ecstatic to be here and can’t wait for you to come in to try our wines!

My name is Janie, new to the Rancho Maria family. I want to share with you my first experience tasting Rancho Maria wines.

One evening after a long day at work, I was invited by a friend to join for dinner at the home of Sebastian, winemaker of his family’s brand, Rancho Maria. I walked in the door with no expectations. As I made my way toward the kitchen, there was monkfish being pan-seared in butter and garlic to the perfect medium rare and with a chardonnay to pair! Outside, tri-tip & chicken were being smoked with mesquite. Later shrimp, and pairs we smoked as well, and asparagus were roasted with lemon!

That mesquite smoked tri-tip was absolutely stunning with Rancho Maria’s Reserve Zinfandel along with some RM Zin infused mushrooms and bell peppers! The perfect ménage à trois. Then Sebastian brought out another big red to pair, Rancho Maria’s 2013 Petite Syrah delicious with the chicken and roasted sweet potatoes. Yum!

I had no idea what to expect quality-wise as it was just another Sonoma county evening of eating food and tasting wines. Although we were in Kenwood, at the home of a local vintner, I did not expect the food to be so superb! Sebastian is an excellent chef, and I can’t wait for the BBQ and dinners to be enjoyed with our wines! Subscribe to our mailing list, we’ll keep you posted. 😉
